INTERTANKO Photography Competition 2026 - sponsored by Valles Steamship Ltd.

The winners of this year’s INTERTANKO Photography Competition, proudly sponsored by Valles Steamship, were announced during the gala dinner at the Association’s Annual Tanker Event in Hong Kong.
The level of entries was extraordinarily high and serves to show the hidden talents and keen eyes of our seafarers – please do encourage your crews to take part again next year for what has become a true highlight of the evening.
Capt. Oscar Pinto of sponsors Valles Steamship did the honours in announcing the winners, which were as follows:
In third place was Readying taken by Michael Ramo of Scorpio Tankers…

Second place was Sunset by Shashant Gowda - 2nd Officer aboard High Navigator of d'Amico Società di Navigazione…

And the winner, again from d'Amico Società di Navigazione, was the following image of seals undertaking a spot of sunbathing taken by Capt. Ankit Mehrotra – Master of MT High Mariner:

Again, huge thanks to Valles Steamship for sponsoring the competition and to the INTERTANKO Membership for making the competition the highlight it is by continuing to send in entries of such high quality.
Entries for 2027 will open in the coming months, with the winners to be announced at the 2027 Tanker Event, which will take place in May in Athens. We hope to see you all there.
INTERTANKO Photography Competition entry criteria
Open to all seagoing and shore-based staff, we invite photographs that cover any aspect of carrying the world’s oil, gas and chemicals safely, cleanly and efficiently.
It could be a moody dawn/dusk shot on calm waters, maybe one of treacherous conditions that are difficult to imagine, or perhaps a sea bird or other wildlife – dolphins, whales, etc – that have taken a shine to a particular vessel.
There really is no limit to what can be entered – all we ask is that it’s tanker-based.
There will be individual prizes of Amazon vouchers for the top three – USD250, USD125 and USD75. Shortlisted images will be on display throughout the whole event and the winners, decided by delegates’ votes, will be announced live at the Tanker Event Annual Dinner.
There is also the possibility that an entry could be used as a cover for one of our Guidance notes or retail publications, so please only send in your own, copyright-free work. Should an image be used elsewhere, we will give full accreditation to the author.
Images should be of high resolution, print quality and in either .jpg or .eps formats.
