Seafarers’ Initiative: Top-Up Training Matrix

INTERTANKO's Top-Up Training Matrix is aimed at ensuring qualified seafarers hold the correct competences for the roles that they undertake.
Following a detailed review of accident investigations, commercial vetting requirements (both SIRE and CDI), and in-house Member initiatives, INTERTANKO’s Human Element in Shipping Committee developed this matrix in coordination with other Committees.
It provides Members with a voluntary top-up training framework to enhance the statutory training of seafarers. Primarily, this is aimed at newly qualified officers and those transferring from other ship types, but much of what the matrix contains can be used as refresher training.
